Former Nigeria’s President Olusegun Obasanjo has said that he would prefer to be addressed as a Chief Obasanjo and not Dr. Obasanjo.
Obasanjo was among the many Nigerians who took part in the convocation ceremony of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN)on Saturday in Abuja where he was awarded a doctorate degree in Divinity.
Obasanjo said after the conferment of the honour that he does not want the title of Dr. to be affixed to him name.
Obasanjo said he would prefer that people continue to address him as “Chief Olusegun Obasanjo”, a name he adopted after leaving the military to become Nigeria’s democratically elected President in 1999.
Obasanjo spoke in an interview with Premium Times.
