Christmas: Obiano, Okowa, FRSC meet over gridlock on Asaba/Onitsha bridge

The pains which Nigerians travelling for Christmas go through on the Asaba/Onitsha bridge has attracted the attention of governors Willie Obiano and Ifeanyi Okowa od Anambra and Delta states.

They met with the Corps Marshall of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Olayemi Boboye on Tuesday on how to ensure that travelers, mainly from the South East and South South are not made to sleep on the head bridge which has become fashionable of late.

The Governors who spoke after a closed door meeting  Boboye in Asaba said that they met to look at ways to ensure free movement of traffic especially on and around the Niger Bridge during the yuletide period.

Okowa on his part said: “We had useful discussion just like we did last year on ways to ensure free flow of traffic during the yuletide, everything has been put in place to ensure that nobody is stuck on the road.”

Obiano who also said that he was in Asaba with the Corps Marshal Boboye “to confer with Governor Okowa on ways to ensure that there is easy movement of traffic particularly at the head bridge.”

He said he wanted Boboye to see things for himself.

Boboye assured Nigerians that the FRSC would do its best to ensure effective traffic management.

He said the Corps had received some logistics support from the Governors on how to go about it.
