Concern Mounts Over Ekwueme’s Health, But Family Says No Cause for Alarm

There is growing concern over the health of former vice president of Nigeria, Alex Ekwueme.

But the family has again dismissed the perceived fear on the minds of well wishers insisting that Ekwueme is doing well.

The family said the former Vice President has not been flown abroad as proposed due to documentations that are yet to be concluded.

Ekwueme was to be flown out of the country on the directives of President Muhammadu Buhari at the weekend over failing health.

The former Vice President reportedly collapsed a week earlier and was asmitted at an Enugu hospital.

The family had asked Nigerians to pray for him, claiming he has become more stable based on doctor’s report.

But he was to be flown out of the country last wèekend on the orders of Buhari to enable him get better medicare.

But yesterday there were mounting fears among government officials, political associates and relatives that Ekwueme’s health was getting worse.

Some even speculated he must have passed on but no one was ready to speak officially.

Ekwueme was Vice President from 1979- 1983. He turned 85 years on October 21.
