Senator Rochas Okorocha, former governor of Imo State and representative of Imo West senatorial district in the Nigerian senate has been reaffirmed duly elected by the Appeal Court.

Okorocha contested on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Court of Appeal sitting in Owerri on Thursday affirmed Okorocha’s victory in a judgement read by Justice R.A. Ada who chaired the panel of three other Justices.

The judgment said that the appeals filed by Senator Osita Izunaso of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and Jones Onyereri of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP)  against Okorocha lacked merit.

Their appeal was dismissed accordingly.

The Elections Petitions Tribunal sitting in Owerri had earlier ruled in Okorocha’s favour causing Izunaso and Onyereri to approach the court of Appeal to nullify the tribunal’s ruling.
