President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick, and four other members of the board accused of $8.4 million and N4 billion fraud have been discharged and acquitted.
The Federal High Court in Abuja presided over by Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu discharged them on Tuesday in what is clearly a nolle prosecute ruling.
Apart from Pinnick, the other members who were cleared of the charges are NFF Secretary, Sunusi Mohammed; NFF 1st Vice-President, Seyi Akinwumi; 2nd Vice-President, Shehu Dikko; and an executive member, Yusuff Fresh.
Justice Ojukwu discharged them following withdrawal of charges by the Federal Government represented in court by a counsel standing in the place of the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF).
The Special Presidential Investigation Panel on Recovery of Public Property (SPIP) had original instituted the case before it was taken over by the AGF.
According to the AGF, there was no basis for the charges filed against Pinnick and others.
