Contrary to insinuations that a federal high court on Monday, October 30 ruled that Governor Willie Obiano should stop parading himself as candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) for the November 18 governorship poll in Anambra State, the reverse is rather the case.
Instead, the court granted the applicant, Martins Agbaso an accelerated hearing of his motion but declined his interim injunction prayers that included stopping Obiano from campaigning and from being substituted.
A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja had given the order while hearing an ex-parte motion brought by Agbaso and some APGA faction members who made five prayers altogether, including asking the INEC to substitute Obiano where necessary.
But the court answered three of Agbaso’s prayers and declined to accede to his prayers asking for Obiano to be substituted or for him to suspend his campaign. The court granted Agbaso’s prayer for an accelerated hearing of the case.
