Ekiti State Governor-elect , Dr. Fayemi Kayode has hinted of his intention to look into the finances of his state under the tenure of Governor Ayodele Fayose.

Fayemi said he will look into the books of Ekiti from October 2014 when he was replaced with Fayose as governor.

“Definitely I want to look at what transpired from the period I left office in October 2014, call it a probe if you like but obviously that I will do, Fayemi told Channels Television on Sunday.

According to the governor-elect, the payment of the salary arrears of Ekiti workers will be part of his priority in the first 100 days.

Fayemi said Ekiti’s development has been arrested in the past three years and some months and there is need for him to reactivate the trajectory he put in place when he was in office.

He said he was determined to change the story of Ekiti and urged the citizens to join hands with him for that purpose.

Fayemi said he had extended hands of fellowship to his fellow contestants some of whom have congratulated him, but explained that the People’s Democratic Party candidate and his major challenger are yet to do so.

He said he congratulated Fayose in 2014 even when he knew there were issues with the election that brought him to office, adding that Prof Kolapo Olusola-Eleka knows how to reach him if he was interested in congratulating him.

He thanked President Muhammadu Buhari who had earlier congratulated him for his support.

Meanwhile, it emerged on Sunday that the PDP has rejected the Ekiti governorship election result and is ready to contest the outcome.

The PDP national chairman Uche Secondus said in a statement they were studying the result and the process that brought it about and will respond accordingly shortly.

He urged his supporters and members to be calm in the interim.
