The judicial panel of inquiry and restitution set up by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State to look into alleged brutality and human rights violations by the recently disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) unit of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has commenced sitting.
Two representatives of youths, Rinu Odulala and Temitope Majekodunmi were sworn-in on Tuesday by the panel before it commenced hearing.
Also sworn in was Lucas Koyejo, a representative of the Nigeria Human Rights Commission (NHRC).
The first case heard by the nine- man panel, headed by Retired Justice Doris Okuwobi, was a petition brought by one Okoli Aguwu, who said he was detained for 47 days in SARS, because his boss accused him of theft.
He also alleged that SARS officials assaulted his mother and wife when they came to effect his release and there after sold his properties including his car.
The panel has adjourned sitting till October 30.
