Lagos State Government has called on those living in the flood prone areas of the state to move away from the places now to avert further danger.

Commissioner for environment gave the order on Saturday as flood continues to wreak havoc in parts of Lekki, Aja, Victoria Island and other parts of the state with property wirth millions of naira under threat.

The floods witnessed on Saturday, July 8 in the above areas affected homes and offices and saw many persons stranded.

Many residents on Ahmadu Bello Way Victoria Island and Lekki were trapped in their homes due to the floods.

As a fall out, Real Estate Developers in that part of Lagos are into hiding as most tenants spoiled for war. Some tenants claimed they were not told the state of the environment and property when they were moving in.

The government believes the time to blame anyone is not now as the safety of lives of citizens is more important now than the property they live in.

Most of those who had appointments to keep at the Lekki, Aja, Victoria Garden City, Victoria Island and environs yesterday had to call them off due to the heavy downpour that has lasted for days in Lagos.
