Goodwill messages have poured in for President Muhammadu Buhari since he returned to the country on Saturday, August 19 from the United Kingdom where he spent 105 days on medical vacation.
From the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) to the main opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to governors and ordinary Nigerias, the goodwill messages were a deluge.
Buhari’s deputy, Yemi Osinbajo said he was so happy that his boss was back in good health condition adding that despite the short notice given for his return Nigerians turned out in their numbers to receive him.
Osinbajo noted that Buhari’s recovery had signalled the recovery of the country from anything holding her down.
Senate President Bukola Saraki and House of Representatives Speaker Yakubu Dogara also expressed their joy over Buhari’s return and recovery and pledged to facilitate issues that would ensure smooth running of the government and enhance good working relationships among the tiers of government on resumption.
The APC welcomed Buhari and prayed God to sustain his health so that the good work his administration is doing in the country would be further pursued.
Bolaji Abdullahi, the APC Spokesman who issued the message also used the opportunity to thank Osinbajo for displaying exemplary leadership trait as Acting President in Buhari’s absence.
For the PDP, they not only thanked God for Buhari’s safe return and good health but urged him to settle in to deal with the hardship Nigerians are going through due to bad economy.
Governors were not left out in their goodwill messages with Nyesom Wike of Rivers State saying he was particularly happy for Buhari’s recovery and return hence he came to be part of his welcome audience.
Wike said his party loyalty has nothing to do with the survival of Buhari and said anyone who wished him dead must have himself examined.
Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State insisted that political parties not withstanding all the leaders owe it as a duty to ensure the country works.
Most governors could not hide their joy over Buhari’s return and added that his coming and continued collaboration with his deputy will signal good tidings for the country.
To the ordinary Nigerian people, hope rises for them with Buhari’s coming back as they said they fervently prayed for his recovery and home coming.
