Dr. Chike Akunyili, husband of the late former Director General of NAFDAC and Minister of Information, Prof Dora Akunyili has been killed by unknown gunmen.
Akunyili, a medical doctor was said to have been killed on Tuesday night around Nkpor Junction in Anambra state on his way to Enugu after attending a memorial lecture in Onitsha in honour of his late wife.
A source said the assailants also killed his driver and police escort.
Chike Akunyili had on Tuesday attended a lecture at Sharon Hall, All Saints Cathedral, Onitsha, organized by the University of Nigeria Nsukka Alumni Association (UNAA), Onitsha branch, in honour of his late wife, Prof Dora Akunyili.
