Gunmen Kill Ondo Traditional Ruler, Olufon of Ifon

A prominent traditional ruler in Ondo State, Oba Israel Adeusi, the Olufon of Ifon was on Thursday killed by armed bandits.

According to Channels Television, Oba Adeusi was returning to his town from Akure, the Ondo State capital where he went for a meeting with other frontline traditional rulers in the state when the armed gang attacked him.

The monarch, the report added, was shot at Elegbeka community along the Ifon-Benin Highway.

He was said to have been taken to the Federal Medical Centre in Owo, where he was confirmed dead.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Tee Leo-Ikoro, confirmed the incident to Channels Television.

He vowed that the bandits, who also kidnapped two persons in the convoy after shooting the monarch, would be apprehended.
