Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Thursday stormed the Head Office of Dangote Industries Limited in Ikoyi, Lagos, over alleged illegal allocation of about $3.4 billion to the company by the Central Bank of Nigeria, during the tenure of Godwin Emefiele as the apex bank governor.

A source familiar to the operation by the anti- graft agency confirmed the detetives were at the Dangote Group in furtherance of investigations into the foreign exchange transactions during Emefiele’s tenure.

The source, said some documents relating to FX transactions were removed by the operatives, who stormed the DIL office during office hours.

It was also gathered that the EFCC’s operation was in line with the ongoing investigation into the fraudulent foreign exchange allocations made to about 52 companies, including Dangote Plc, during the tenure of Emefiele as CBN boss.
