The Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba, has directed the Homicide Section of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Force Headquarters, Abuja to take over investigation into the case of alleged Murder of Mrs Chidiebere Iloka by her husband, Mbazulike Iloka.

The IGP’s directive was contained in a letter to Anambra State Commissioner of Police, signed by the Principal Staff Officer to the IGP, CP Idowu Owohunwa, police sources told Armadanews Online on Wednesday.

Mbazulike, who is the current interim Chairman, Nnewi North Local Government Area, Anambra State, has been suspended from office by the state governor, Chukwuma Charles Soludo pending the outcome of the investigation.

Mbazulike had allegedly beaten his wife, Chidiebere, to death on Sunday, August 7, according to testimonies of neighbours. He has since denied the allegation, insisting his wife slumped and died after serving him breakfast.

Mr Iloka was earlier arrested and detained at the Anambra State Police Command following allegations he was responsible for his wife’s untimely death and public outcry that justice must be served.

The suspect, police sources hinted, would be transferred to Force Headquarters Abuja for further interrogation.
