Imo State Deputy Governor, Eze Madumere has been honoured with the position of number ‘Two Jersey’ in the famous hall of fame of the Association of Ex-Footballers, Imo State branch.
Presenting the number two jersey to Madumere at his official residence in Owerri, Imo State, the President of the Association, Christian Ezeibe said the honour is in recognition of his contributions towards the development of sports in the State and his efforts in youth empowerment.
He described Madumere as home-groomed sports loving personality who has unquenchable thirst towards identifying with his people, especially those in the sports community. He therefore urged him not to relent in his good-natured disposition.
The group recalled the effort of the Deputy Governor in sports development at the grassroots, which they described as “legendry” saying that Madumere has sustained his love for sports for over 20 years.
Ezeibe used the opportunity to unveil the Deputy Governors Unity Match, which he said would be sponsored by the association.
In his response, Madumere thanked the Association for the honour done him.
He described members of the association as rescuers, whose impacts in the round leather game, especially through the transiting periods of Heartland FC.
Madumere also pledged continued his support to heartland FC and sports in general in the State.
