The Imo State Police Command has apprehended some Indian nationals that attempted to remove 2 × 150mva and 2 × 60mva Power Transformers from the ongoing Project yard at Egbu, Owerri.
The men who claimed they had the authorisation of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) to remove the transformers and move them to Lagos were arrested following intelligence reports.
It was gathered that they were making contacts with Egbu youths and trying to lure them to accept tips for connivance and coverage when they were apprehended by police operatives.
In the course of interrogation, it was discovered they had no document to back up their claim that they were authorised by the NDPHC to remove the Transformers.
ArmadaNews investigation revealed that the project was awarded in 2010 by the Presidency and was almost completed but for the arrival of 330kv line coming from Alaoji to Owerri and Onitsha.
