In-Form Ighalo Hits Goal No.11, Onuachu On Target, Onyekuru Subbed On

Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo continued his impressive goal scoring form for Chinese Super League side Changchun Yatai on Sunday with a goal in his club’s 1-1 home draw against Yabian Funde at his club’s Development Area Stadium.

Ighalo, who is expected to be recalled into the Super Eagles squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Cameroun, scored Yatai’s equaliser in the 86th minute for his 11th goal of the season in 20 Chinese Super League matches. He has played 1,783 minutes of football at the club thus far.

In Denmark, Paul Onuachu scored a brace in Midtjylland’s narrow 4-3 home win at the MCH Arena Stadium against Nordsjaelland on Sunday.

Onuachi scored in the 44th and 53rd minutes which took his tally to four in four games this season. While Onuachu played for 90 minutes, his compatriot and clubmate Rilwan Hassan was substituted in the 73rd minute. It was also Hassan’s fourth appearance of the season.

In Turkey, Super Eagles and Olympic Eagles Rio 2016 midfielder Azubuike Okechukwu was in action for 90 minutes in  Yeni Malatyaspor’s 3-1 home win against Osmanlispor that paraded the Nigerian duo of Aminu Umar and Raheem Lawal.

Nigerian pair Sunday Mba, the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations hero, and Sincere Seth were unused substitutes for the home side. Lawal played for 75 minutes while Umar played for 90 minutes for the visitors.

Still in Turkey, former Nigeria U-23 star Imoh Ezekiel came off the bench for his first game of the season for Konyaspor in a 2-1 away defeat to Trabzonspor on Sunday evening at the Senol Gunes Stadium.

In Belgium, Super Eagles prospect Henry Onyekuru came off the bench on Sunday for his club’s second Begian Juplier game of the season when he replaced Dennis Appiah as Anderlecht succumbed to a 2-0 defeat against Sporting Charleroi.

Onyekuru’s first game was against KV Oostende which his on-loan side won 1-0 last week.
Super Eagles midfielder Uche Agbo played for 90 minutes in Standard Liege’s 1-0 defeat against Saint-Truiden away at the Stayen stadium.

The match was the third of the season for the player in the Belgian top flight who played for relegated La Liga side Granada last season.

Izunna Uzochukwu was in action for 62 minutes for his Danish side OB Odense at the Ceres Park the home ground of AGF in a 0-0 draw on Sunday evening.

Uzochukwu made his fourth league appearance in the game with a total of 257 minutes played so far. He was replaced by Rasmus Jonsson.

Nigeria’s Samuel Adegebenro was in action for Norwegian side Viking in their 1-1 away draw to Aalesund on Sunday. It was his 15th league game of the season. The striker who has scored six league goals so far was yellow carded in the 56th minute, his fourth booking of the season. He was replaced in the 66th minute.

Nigerian trio of Shuaibu Ibrahim, Anthony Ikedi and Izuchukwu Jude  Anthony were named in Stabaek’s away clash against Haugesund which ended in a 2-2 stalemate on Sunday.

Ibrahim entered the fray in the 55th minute in place of Arne Andreassen for his 18th game of the season in which he has scored five times. Ikedi also came off the bench for his fourth game of the season but Anthony was an unused substitute.

Nigerian trio of Ifeanyi Matthew, Marco Tagbajumi and Charles Eze all started for Lillestrom in their 3-1 away defeat to Stromsggodset at the Marienlyst Stadion.

The game was the 19th of the season for Matthew, a former Flying Eagles midfielder who played for 90 minutes. Ezeh also in action for 90 minutes but Tagbajumi was replaced by Nigerian-born Shaloze Chikozie Udoji who holds a Bulgarian passport.

The other Nigerian at Lillestrom, Moses Ebiye, came off the bench in the 46th minute to play in his first game of the season.
