The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has raised the alarm that none of the 89 registered political parties has submitted the list of their sponsored candidates for the various elective positions for next year’s election contrary to rules.
The INEC said as at Thursday, October 11, the Commission was yet to get any list of sponsored candidates in Form CF002 and their particulars in Form 001 to any of the centres designated for same across the country.
The Commission said the deadline for the Form CF002 and Form 001 remains October 18, for the presidential and national assembly primaries and November 2 for the governorship and State assembly primaries.
A statement by Mallam Mohammed Haruna, INEC National Commissioner and member, Information and Voter Education Committee said it was worrisome even as it said the chairmanship committee of five out of 15 standing committees had been reorganised.
Barrister Festus Okoye now heads the Information and Voter Education Committee, Solomon Adedeji Soyebi (Board of the Electoral Institute), Mohammed Mustafa Lecky (Planning, Monitoring and Strategy), Mrs. Amina Bala Zakari (Health and Welfare) and Prof. Okechukwu Electoral Operations and Logistics).
