INEC completes collation of results, set to announce new president

The Independent National Electoral commission has completed the collation of results on Saturday, February 23 presidential election.

All 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory have had their results presented and announced at the national collation centre.

The INEC Chairman Mahmoud Yakubu who is the Returning Officer of the presidential election is expected to announce who won the poll between President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressive Congress and former vice president Atiku Abubakar who is the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party.

The APC supporters think they have carried the day but the PDP leadership have vowed to resist any foul play arising from the election with all the challenges that trailed the exercise.

The INEC said the stakeholders will reconvene at 3am to address myriad of issues raised during the collation  before announcing Buhari or Atiku aa winner.

Whoever wins has till 2023 to be in the saddle.

Buhari’ mandates ends by May 29.
