INEC fixes supplementary election in six states on March 23

Six states where result of the governorship election held on Saturday, March 9 was declared inconclusive will have supplementary poll held for them on March 23, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said.

 

The are Adamawa, Bebue, Bauchi, Kano, Plateau and Sokoto states.

 

The INEC National Commissioner and chairman in charge of voter education and information committee, Festus Okoye said in a statement on Tuesday, March 12, that the supploementary poll had become necessary due to various complaints ranging from discontinuation of the use of smart card readers midway of failure to deploy them at all, over voting and disruption of elctoral process, among others.

 

Okoye said the supplementary poll is to enable the INEC complete the voting processes in line with the provision of the Electoral Act 2010 as amended.
