A rousing welcome awaited Chairman of Innoson Motors, Innocent Chukwuma at the Enugu airport on Thursday, when a number of youths carried placards to the place in anticipation of his return back home.
Channels TV reported that the youths were seen carrying placards with various inscriptions such as: “Our hero is back, “our Senate is working”.
Chukwuma was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) at his Enugu residence on Tuesday, December 19, and was released on Wednesday, December 20 after many Nigerians condemned the manner of his arrest.
Officials of the EFCC said his arrest followed his refusal to honour an earlier invitation. They claimed he had earlier jumped an administrative bail granted to him in a case being investigated by the Capital Market and Insurance Fraud Unit of the Lagos office.
But Innoson said he never received any invitation from the anti-graft agency.
He had pledged to cooperate with them to clear his name in a thank you statement he issued on Thursday and personally signed.
