GTBank Plc branches in Nnewi, Onitsha, Awka, all in Anambra State and others in neighbouring Enugu state have been sealed up by Innoson Motors Limited in desperate move to recover the N8.7billion the bank allegedly owes the motor firm.
On Friday, Innoson thŕough a statement signed by Cornel Osigwe said there was a Supreme court judgement that empowers GTBank to pay the motor company N8.7 billion being indebtedness to Innoson.
The GTBank on Saturday said the debt was a ganishee order on debt owed Innoson by the Board of the Nigerian Customs and Excise amd not the bank.
But Innoson disagrees with the position of the bank that is in custody of the money of the Customs.
Osigwe confirmed on Saturday that Innoson had taken steps to recover what is owed her by sealing the seven branches of the bank in the said places and that by next week the motor firm will process to take over the headquarters of GTBank.
He said the bank cannot run away from the pronouncement of the apex court which is not ambiguous
