Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has constituted a nine-member Committee on Prevention of Corona Virus disease (COVI-19) with former Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Prof Maurice Iwu as Chairman.
The panel was set up on Thursday, and the members were said to have met with the governor on the modalities for their work.
According to a statement by the chief press secretary/media adviser to the Governor, Oguwike Nwachuku the other members include:

3. Dr. Kingsley Achigbu (Fed Medical Centre – Member
4. Dr. Uduji Uchenna (Imo Specialist Hospital – Member
5. Dr. Duru Chukwuma JP (IMSUTH) – Member
6. Prof. Isiah Ibe, (Med. Lab, University of Benin – Member
7. Miss Nkem Chimeze Ijere, (Public Health) – Member
8. DR. Chimezie Iwuala – Member
9. Dr. Kyrian Duruewuru (Chairman NMA-Imo Chapter) – Member
Governor Uzodimma who took this initiative to forestall the spread of the disease now ravaging many parts of the world stated that Government took this step as a proactive measure even as Imo has not recorded any COVID-19 infection.
In the wake of the outbreak of the Coronavirus, Governor Uzodimma had directed the Ministry of Health to activate all platforms, including emergency response measures with the procurement of protective equipment, enhanced border surveillance, community enlightenment and distribution of sanitisers.
The governor has always insisted that the health of the Imo people is critical to his administration’s policy thrust; hence, no stone would be left unturned in ensuring a healthy state under his watch.
