Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state will not be given the All Progressive Congress ticket to contest for a second term in office, Armadanews.com was informed.
National leader of the All Progressive Congress Bola Tinubu is believed to be one of those standing on Bello’s way with the party’s national chairman Adams Oshiomhole keying into the agenda.
Bello has been fighting secretly to get Tinubu’s support but it appears the former governor of Lagos State is hell bent on getting a replacement for him with the backing of the APC leadership and several Kogi indigenes.
The state APC members had written several petitions against Bello believed to have been orchestrated by some interested party chieftains to stop Bello from returning to office.
James Faleke was Tinubu’s candidate when Abubakar Audu ran and won before he died suddenly.
Faleke is still being positioned for the governor’s office of the state.
A source close to the governor told this medium on Thursday that Bello had taken all steps to convince Tinubu and President Muhammadu Buhari but the odds against him are numerous.
When Tinubu marked his birthday recently Bello was all over him but that public outing yielded little effort.
The source said thinks the best person should fly the flag for the governorship election in November and that the choice of who does should be left to the people to decide.
Faleke is believed to have a relationship with Tinubu that looks inseparable.
According to our source, the governor may be looking for another platform to actualize his second term bid having reached a point of frustration in APC.
