The former governor of Kano state and senator, Musa Kankwaso on Thursday escaped assassination when some hoodlums believed to be loyal to the All Progressive Congress clashed with his supporters at his local government, Bebeje in Kano.
He was said to have gone to campaign when the supportets of an APC House of Representatives member who never wanted the Kwankwaso party, the People’s Democratic Party to campaign in the area.
Property and houses were reportedly torched and several persons wounded.
Kwankwaso was said to have escaped being killed.
The PDP Nations Chairman Uche Secondus said the attempted assassination was fallout of President Muhammadu Buhari’ directive to the security to shot at sight.
He regretted that many PDP chieftains have become targets of the APC hoodlums and blamed Buhari for everything.
Kwankwaso is a key political figure in Kano and is believed to hold the key to Buhari’s defeat in the state.
Governor Abdullahi Ganduje was Kwankwaso’s deputy and was later assisted to necome governor.
But he has long turned against Kwankwaso, including trying to bar him from the coming to the state using thugs.
