Lafarge Africa Pledges to Invest More in Nigeria

Chairman of Lafarge Africa, Adebode Adefioye has said that the company will up its investments in Nigeria with a view to boosting the economy and creating more employments for Nigerians.

Adefioye spoke recently when he led the board members of the company on a courtesy visit to engage with key government stakeholders in various federal ministries to give updates on Lafarge Africa’s investments in Nigeria and to also seek further collaboration.

He said Lafarge Africa was mindful of Nigeria’s economic growth and would support the government to build a stronger and more viable economy.

“We care for people and continue to operate in an environmentally friendly manner. We remain committed to our stakeholders which include our employees, customers, contractors, suppliers and the communities in which we operate.

On his part, Khaled El Dokani, country chief executive officer of Lafarge Africa noted that the company has been in Nigeria since the past 60 years and has invested over 12 million CHF over the past four years in alternative fuel projects.

Furthermore, he said that the company aims to look for areas of partnership with the government, especially in the area of its Sustainable Development Goals.

The minister that played host to the Lafarge team – Minister of Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, his Industry, Trade and Investment, Otunba Niyi and Environment Minister, Mohammad Mahmood thanked the company for its their investments in Nigeria over the past decades and called for collaboration with the company and other private organisations.
