Magu’s Confirmation Screening Deferred To Dec 15

The Senate on Thursday, December 8 extended the screening date of the Acting Chairman of the Economic Financial and Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, and other nominees of the agency, to Thursday, December 15 at 11am.

No official explanation or referral of the screening exercise to the Senate Committee on Anti-corruption led by Senator Chukwuka Utazi.

Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu had during plenary on Wednesday, December 7 announced that the Senate would begin the confirmation hearing of Magu, and board members of the commission on Thursday.
President Muhammadu Buhari had in the past few months forwarded the name of Magu and others to the senate for confirmation of their appointment after acting for nearly a year.
