Mbaise university tops agenda as Colloquium holds August 14

Governor Emeka  Ihedioha of Imo state is expected as Special Guest of Honour at this year’s Mbaise Colloquium, the 24th, organised by Mbaise People’s Congress (MPC), an assemblage of professionals from the area.

 

The establishment of a university in Mbaise whose discussion has been in the offing will top agenda of issues for discussion.

The annual discussion roundtable organized by MPC since 1995 will hold on Wednesday, August 14, 2019.

 

The purpose of this annual intellectual harvest is to discuss issues of relevance to the people of Mbaise both at home and in the diaspora.

 

With the theme – Funding De Mbaise University: Opportunities and Options –  the flagship programme will as usual, attract top intellectuals, professionals and technocrats of Mbaise extraction and beyond, according to a statement signed by Chimaroke Ben Nnaji, Director of Publicity and Mobilization, MPC.

 

The venue of the conclave is Chris Six Hotel, Eke Ahiara Junction along Owerri-Umuahia road, Mbaise, by 10 am  prompt.

 

In a statement, Ihedioha will be the Special Guest of Honour.

 

“The Guest Speaker is Dr Ferdinand Odoemenam, the Vice President/COO of Sterling Oil Global Resources Limited; two distinguished Mbaise sons – Sir Stanley Amuchie and Dr Paschal Iwuh will discuss the paper. The one-day event will be chaired by Barrister Lucius E Nwosu (SAN), while His Royal Highness Eze (Prof) Benjamin A. Nwachukwu will grace the occasion as the royal father.”

 

 

According to the national President of MPC, Carl Azudibia, the theme of the Colloquium was chosen in order to give Mbaise sons and daughters, as well as their friends and relatives an opportunity to contribute their ideas towards making the dream of De Mbaise University a reality.

 

 

Nnaji who is also the chairman 2019 MPC Colloquium organizing committee, said that “Mbaise People’s Congress will use the occasion of the Colloquium to honour three of our outstanding teenage children – Miss Stephany Chizoba Ugboaja, Master Favour Chukwuemeka Alozie and Master Chibueze Amaechi – for their exceptional performances in the recently released WAEC results. They came 1st, 2nd, and 3rd nationally in the recently released WASSCE results there by making Mbaise nation proud.

 

 

“MPC through its scholarship and empowerment board, MPC SAVES, will also award scholarships to deserving Mbaise students in tertiary institutions during the colloquium. The event will witness talent display by the youths and students, Art Exhibition by an international award-winning Artist of Mbaise descent, Vivian Timothy and an exhibition by OLUAKA Institute.”
