Nigeria’s king of the blog, Linda Ikeji has relived her promise to God some years ago, indicating that most of her commitment to the society today, particularly the girls are based on her pledge to God before fortune smiled on her.
Ikeji revealed in a recent Sunday lifestyle magazine that she is passionate about imparting the “I can do it” spirit on the girls as part of ways of making them be independent of men some who, she said, take advantage of them most of the time.
“As a student, I told God if he ever blessed me with success and money, I would help as many young women as it’s possible to help. I told myself I would use my platform, my voice, my money to change as many lives as I can by guiding them and helping to establish them. It’s not enough to talk and inspire, at the end of the day, people money to start a business,” she said.
Ikeji added: “So in any way I can help a young woman, I do so as a lot of women are doing things that they don’t want to do but think they don’t have a choice. I am trying to show women that they have a choice and patience is one of those choices. You have to be patient and let God do his will in your life. Be patient and work hard for yourself, it might take longer for you to be successful but succeeding on your own terms is more dignifying than lying down on your back foe some man to sleep with you and give you money. There is absolutely no pride, dignity or prestige in that and that is what I tell young girls. God will eventually bless the work of your hands.”
She further revealed that as a former model, she “witnessed a lot of things models were subjected to.” “I also saw what beauty queensn were subjected to and i vowed never to be part of it. It was sad to watch,” she decried.
Ikeji said she is passionate doing what she is doing and advised young girls to find out those things they are passionate about and give them a trial instead of recourse to prostitution on the flimsy excuse of coming from poor families or background
