Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has said the statues of some African personalities he recently erected in Owerri for which he had been criticised are not cheap.
It is believed one costs more than N5oo million.
Okorocha was speaking in an interview in Channels Television where he bluntly refused to say how much the statues have cost the state.
Okorocha said disclosing the cost of the statue would mean lowering the value, and that the idea of the statues was not to lower the value of the persons on the statue.
The governor also said he is not owing any teacher – dead or living – in the state, explaining that the problem with unpaid pensions was more of scam in the civil service system.
