The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has issued a directive to all licensees to update their contact information through its (Commission’s) eServices platform by January 9, 2025.

In a statement issued by Reuben Mouka, Director of Public Affairs, the NCC explained that the move was aimed at ensuring that the NCC maintains accurate, up-to-date records for effective communication and regulatory oversight in the telecommunications sector.

According to the Commission, this initiative aims to enhance regulatory oversight and improve communication with licensees.

The directive, the commission noted, is in line with the provisions of the Licensing Regulations 2019, which stipulate that licensees must report any changes to their contact details within seven days of occurrence.

The Commission emphasized that this initiative reflects its commitment to transparency and accountability within the telecommunications industry. Accurate and current contact information is vital for enabling efficient oversight and seamless engagement with stakeholders.

It said that licensees are required to report any changes to their contact details within seven days of the occurrence. Updates must be submitted via the Commission’s eServices platform at https://eservices.ncc.gov.ng.

The NCC outlined the required updates to include:

* Principal place of business: Including the postcode, geographic coordinates, and identifiable landmarks.

* Mailing address: If different from the physical location.

* Email contacts: Active and current addresses for effective communication.

* Contact numbers: Reachable and updated phone numbers.

* Personnel information: Names and details of individuals responsible for regulatory and operational matters.

The Commission warned that failure to provide accurate and up-to-date information could result in sanctions, including fines, suspension, or license revocation. While specific penalties were not disclosed, the NCC emphasized the importance of accurate contact details in ensuring prompt responses to industry developments and maintaining effective engagement.

“This directive is part of the NCC’s broader strategy to improve its regulatory framework, strengthen oversight, and bolster Nigeria’s telecommunications sector. By leveraging the eServices platform, the Commission aims to provide licensees with a secure and efficient means to fulfill their regulatory obligations.”

The agency has therefore called on all licensees to comply promptly, urging stakeholders to prioritize this directive to avoid disruptions in their operations. The Commission also highlighted that up-to-date contact information is essential for maintaining transparency, accountability, and fostering sustainable growth in the telecommunications ecosystem.

“With the January 9, 2025, deadline fast approaching, stakeholders are encouraged to act swiftly to meet the requirements and support the NCC’s efforts to address industry challenges effectively.”
