The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) in collaboration with the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), will host a Domain Name System Security Extensions (DNSSEC) awareness webinar today, December 12, 2024.

In a notification, the NCC said the virtual event, scheduled for 11:00 a.m. WAT, aims to enhance awareness of DNSSEC validation and improve Nigeria’s adoption rate.

According to the Commission, the initiative is part of efforts to ensure Nigeria achieves a 50% DNSSEC validation rate by the first quarter of 2025.

“The objective of this programme is to promote DNSSEC validation and ensure increased awareness by the end of the year,” the NCC said.

The webinar will feature notable speakers, including Babagana Digima, Head of New Media and Information Security at the NCC; Dr. Ibiso Kingsley-George, Head of the NCC’s Internet Governance Unit; and Yazid Akanho, Technical Engagement Manager for the Middle East and Africa (MEA) at ICANN.

The webinar aligns with the NCC’s commitment to fostering a secure internet environment and advancing Nigeria’s digital transformation through enhanced cybersecurity practices.
