Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has called on the people of Ngor-Okpala to come out in their numbers on Saturday, February 26, 2022, to vote the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Blyden Amajuruonwu, in the by-election to fill a vacant position for the Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly.
The governor spoke on Thursday at Central School Ntu during the grand finale rally of the APC that attracted thousands of party faithful.
Governor Uzodimma appealed to the people to elect the APC candidate because he is not only the best but also passionate about the development of his area
He urged them to take their destiny in their hands by voting a candidate like Blyden Amajuruonwu who has the support of all Ngor- Okpala people – men, women, youths – as well as having the capacity to attract development to his area because of the trust the APC- led government in Imo State has in him.
Governor Uzodimma said the people of Ngor-Okpala have suffered untold hardship over the years in the hands of the Peoples Democratic Party that deliberately neglected the area for 16 years the Party was in power, reminding the electorate that his government has come with a new order to partner with the people on what exactly are their needs and to bring a lasting change.
He regretted that the area is a gold mine but there is nothing to show for the natural resources God has endowed the people with such as crude oil and vast arable land that can be put to good use for mechanized agriculture.
The Governor therefore enjoined them to vote the APC candidate and assured them that by doing so Ngor-Okpala would have joined the National political grid which will translate into development from both the National and State levels.
“Blyden will be in a position to change the narrative of infrastructural neglect which the area has suffered in the hands of the opposition party who have ruled for the past 23 years of return to democracy in Nigeria.”
The Governor informed the electorate that he is making frantic efforts to recover the oil wells in Ngor Okpala and that the “resources will be used to develop the area as an industrial hub where there will be good roads, electricity, industries and job creation for the youths.”
“When this is realized, it will be a panacea and a cure to unemployment and not only that, the youths will be employed and the youths will turn around to become employers of labour themselves.”
He enjoined the people of Ngor Okpala to come out en mass and use their voter’s card to vote out bad government and bring in the good government of APC.
He reiterated the sincerity of his administration and that of APC leadership in Imo State to serve, assuring that “a vote for Blyden Amajirionwu will be a sure contract and connection to the National political grid.”
He commended the leadership of Ngor Okpala for coming together to reassure the audience of their readiness to embrace APC and vote in the candidate of their choice.
The Governor who expressed joy over the turnout of the people at the grand finale rally explained that in no time the unemployed youths in Imo State and Ngor Okpala in particular will be happy with the APC.
He reiterated his promise of coming to serve amd give his best to the people of Imo State and not to support evil.
Earlier in their different remarks the State Chairman of APC, MacDonald Ebere had asked the people to see the opportunity of the by-election to the Ngor Okpala State Constituency “as a second chance of getting it right and making Ngor Okpala join the moving train.”
Members of the National Assembly at the rally led by the Senator representing Imo North, Frank Ibezim, told the people that the rally and solicitation of vote for Blyden is a “God given opportunity and with the presence of the Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, victory is assured.”
The Speaker Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Kennedy Ibe who led members of the State House of Assembly told the people that they should do all within their powers to vote the APC candidate, assuring that they are ready to work with Blyden as their representative.
The Campaign Council led by the Director General, Chief Henry Njoku and Dr. TOE Ekechi, assured the Governor of their readiness to deliver the APC candidate whom they called “their worthy friend and colleague.”
They further reminded the people of Ngor Okpala that the PDP that has been forced on them since 1999 has failed them, noting that “this is the time to make a positive change that will bring infrastructural development to our people.”
They said it was a big slight on Ngor-Okpala that the man who was elected to represent the people on PDP platform has gone on AWOL for more than two years without anyone offering any reasonable explanation and unmindful of what Ngor-Okpala has lost.
