Nigeria’s refineries in Kaduna and Warri have been shut indefinitely by the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation ( NNPC) , apparently over poor production.
The decision leaves the country with only the Port Harcourt Refinery and had worsened the deficit in petroleum products consumed by Nigerian daily.
The implication is that the federal government will have to budget more money for importation of refined petroleum products, a sitution it has been working hard to avoid.
Meanwhile, the federal government has said no contract to the tune of $25 billion was awarded by the NNPC contrary to speculations.
The office of the vice President Yemi Osinbajo made the clarification in a statement on Sunday.
