The company owned by Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, has 48.6 million tons production capacity, with operations in 10 countries. The Obajana plant is the largest of Dangote’s three factories in Nigeria with 16.25 million-ton capacity.
The NSC, chaired by President Muhammadu Buhari, gave the directive at a meeting held at the Council Chambers of the State House in Abuja.
Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, who spoke on the issue, said an agreement had been reached between Kogi State Government and Dangote Group on the need to reopen the facility, while discussions on how to resolve the issues at stake continue.
Aregbesola urged the Kogi State Government and the management of Dangote Group to adhere to agreements reached. The minister also stated the need for the issues in contention to be resolved legally. Meanwhile, Dangote Industries Ltd was said to have commenced a legal action against the Kogi State Government over the issue.
Share price of Dangote Cement had fallen to N220.5 from N245.5 which it was before the company was sealed.by Kogi State government. It was prior to the dispute, the largest traded company on the Nigerian Exchange Limited.
