The members of Nwachuku Family Foundation of the Ancient Kingdom of Ogwuama, Ahiara, Ahiazu Mbaise on December 27, 2020 hosted to a grand reception one of their own, Chief Oguwike Nwachuku, who is the Chief Press Secretary (CPS)/Media Adviser to Imo State Governor, Dist Senator Hope Uzodimma.
The event, which held at the old Family Compound of the Nwachukus was organized by the Management Committee of the Foundation in compliance with the COVID-19 regulations as spelt out by the Nigerian Centre for Diseases Control (NCDC), thereby limiting participation to important personalities.
In attendance were: the Honourable member representing Ahiazu Mbaise at the Imo State House of Assembly, Hon. Otibe, Chief Larry Chikwe, chairman, Interim Management Committee of Ahiazu Mbaise LGA; APC chieftain, Eng. Emma Ojinire, Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Duties, Chief Regis Uwakwe, HRH Eze Sabinus Nwaneche (Ogwu 1 of Ogwuama); HRH, Eze-elect Leonard Uche Eke of Akabor Ahiara; Rev Fr. Maximus Ihekoronye, Venerable Bertram Ogoke and Dr. Aloy Ojilere.
Also in attendance were political and Corporate friends of the CPS/Media Adviser, who were warmly welcomed by the President General of Ogwuama Autonomous Community cum Head of Umueze Ogwuama kindred meeting, Mr Benjamin Ihiaso.
In his welcome address, Sir (Eng) Udochi Nwachuku, Chairman, Nwachuku Family Foundation said: “As a family, Nwachuku Family Foundation is our strength. Through the Foundation, we work together in unison. Instead of projecting the individuals, we project the family. Through the Foundation, we speak with one voice as a family. It enables us to give back to the society, impact our community and the society positively. It also helps us to develop our capacity.
“What started as a spark of light over 20 years ago is glowing till today. Having observed the impact and the clamour of our people for good healthcare, the Nwachuku Family Foundation has sustained it for the past 10 years doing two medical outreaches in a year. This is carried out every December 26th and 27th.”
The Foundation, which is registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has its Board and Management Committee.
The CPS/ Media Adviser to Imo State Governor had served as the second chairman of the Nwachuku Family Foundation after the pioneer chairman, Mr. Akobundu Nwachuku.
In his remarks, the Chief Press Secretary/Media Adviser used the opportunity to urge every member of the Nwachuku Family Foundation (home and abroad) and other visitors present at the event to support his principal, Governor Uzodinma, Governor of Imo State whom he assured is totally committed to government of “shared prosperity” for Ndi Imo.
He also urged the community leaders to ensure that All Progressives Congress (APC) as a party is rooted in the community more than before, noting that it will be a major leverage in efforts at attracting more government presence in the community.
Also speaking, the chairman, Interim Management Committee of Ahiazu Mbaise LGA assured that Governor Uzodinma is highly committed to improved road infrastructure, electricity, good healthcare facilities, quality education, security of lives and property, etc.
The Nwachuku Family Foundation has for decades remained channel for which members of the Nwachuku Family give back to their community and the society at large. For over two decades now, every December 26 and 27 are marked for the Nwachuku Family Foundation activities.
The activities range from free medical mission, interdenominational singing competition, palliatives and soft loans to empower SMEs, student union programmes, football competition, health talks, skills acquisition, capacity building, scholarships, etc.
In the past, some of these projects were successfully executed by the Foundation with the help of its corporate friends, though its members are committed in their annual financial contributions in order to make the Foundation liquid enough to embark on more projects. The Foundation members (home and abroad) are notable personalities doing very well in their chosen profession across public and private sectors.
Among notable personalities that have spoken to participants in the Foundation’s past programmes include: Dr (Mrs) Adanze Asinobi (Nee Nwachuku), Engr. Dan Iheagwara (now late), former House of Representative member, late Independence Ogulewe, West Africa Representative of the Ford Foundation, Mr. Innocent Chukwuma, iconic estate valuer, HRH Prof. Mark Odu (Nze Okeokpa), Lady Mrs Chibuzor Nwachuku, among others.
