Godwin Obaseki and his deputy Philip Shuaibu were on Saturday sworn in as governor and deputy respectively as a new dawn beckons in the state.
Former governor Adams Oshiomhole” administration ended on November 11 while that if Obaseki began on Saturday , November 12.
Obaseki and Shuaibu’ inauguration was witnessed by prominent Nigerians , including governors of the ruling All Progressive Congress ( APC). Oshiomhole and his wife , Lana as well as the APC national chairman, John Odigie- Oyegun and his wife were also present .
Senate President Bukola Saraki led other prominent lawmakers from the national assembly to grace the occasion.
Market women and party faithful also witnessed the inauguration with the governor and his deputy taking their oath of office before the Edo State Chief Judge.
After the swearing in Obaseki inspected a parade of honour mounted by the police and proceeded to take a salute.
During his inaugural speech Obaseki expressed gratitude to all Edo iindigenes for electing him their governor and pledged to render uncommon service that will change their lot.
He paid glowing tribute to Oshiomhole and assured the former governor that he will not disappoint him.
