Vice Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the February 23, 2019 presidential election in Nigeria, Peter Obi says the verdict of the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal that dismissed his party’s petition against President Muhammadu Buhari  as winner of the election was not about the president.

Obi, a two term governor of Anambra state also said the judgement was not about the candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar, but about Nigeria’s democracy, rule of law and the future of the common people of the country.

“It is about practice of democracy in Nigeria, the rule of law and its interpretation in our country and the future of our country.

“Above all,  I remain fervently prayerful to Almighty God for better future of our counrty especially for millions of suffering Nigerians whose future is being toyed with,” Obi said.

The tribunal dismissed the petitions of the PDP and Atiku in a unanimous ruling that set the stage for the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) to describe the ruling as victory for judiciary, and President Buhari saying he was dedicating the victory to God and Nigerians who voted overwhelmingly for him.
