Aspirant for the Ogun Central senatorial district seat on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Gbenga Obadara, has withdrawn from the race.

He withdrew to pave the way for the outgoing Governor, Ibikunle Amosun to pick the slot.

In a press statement made available to Armadanews.com on Friday, Obadara linked his withdrawal to Amosun’s interest to run for the seat.

A former senator and Chairman of Lucinda Media Limited, owners of Sweet 107.1FM, Obadara was also the chairman of the Senate Committee on Privatisation and Commercialisation.

In the letter explaining his withdrawal, he said: “I do appreciate everybody for the support and concern on this journey for me to return to the Senate of the Federal Republic Nigeria in 2019 for our Senatorial District under our great party APC.

“As you are aware, I put out a caveat when I came out to contest .That upon the decision of the Governor of the State to come out to contest for the same Senate seat, I will step down immediately.

“Life goes with integrity and any human being that fails integrity text in anyway loses the value to be counted worthy. I so much appreciate your concern and dedication to my return to the Senate to continue with my good job of attracting more developmental projects to the Senatorial as I did when I was there between 2011-2015 with 133 life touching projects and another six thereafter.

“I hereby with all humility announce to everyone that at this time I will discontinue my campaign and interest while we watch as the event unfolds in fulfillment of my pledge.

“Thank you for everything as I believe and assure my supporters across Ogun Senatorial District, the State and Nation that I remain available for anything that will contribute to the development of the Egbas throughout my life and indeed to all Nigerians.”
