President General of South East socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo is full of commendation for Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State on how the Governor has managed the security situation in his state.
Chief Nwodo who spoke to newsmen after a closed-door meeting with Governor Uzodimma also advised Imolites, including traditional rulers, town union leaders and the media to join hands with the governor to realise his vision of securing their lives and property.
The Ohanaeze President said he was in Owerri on a routine consultation with Governor Uzodimma and other governors of the South East, particularly to have first-hand information on goings on in the region.
He said that Imo State Governor has distinguished himself going by the security measures he has put in place in the state which he saw.
Also briefing newsmen on the outcome of the meeting with Chief Nwodo, Governor Uzodimma informed that, they agreed that for Ndigbo to forge ahead and attract development into the zone, they must be seen as being united.
He said they agreed that Ohanaeze is favourably disposed to Igbo Unity and indeed Nigerian Unity, and that Ndigbo as a people and South East as region, must hook unto the national grid, and work in partnership and support all Federal Government policies for the overall interest of the people.
The Governor said Ndigbo have more to gain by working with the government at the centre and urged Ohanaeze to take it upon itself to preach the message of hooking unto the national political grid.
In another development, Governor Uzodimma has expressed satisfaction with the performance of the Community Policing and Advisory Committee set up recently in the state with him as the leader. The Governor said that security has been restored in Imo State with the involvement of the police and traditional rulers.
The Governor spoke after meeting with the leadership of the State Community Policing and Advisory Committee in his office in Government House, Owerri.
He emphasized that remarkable improvement has been made on the areas of security, unity and politics going forward, assuring that henceforth Imo people can sleep with their two eyes closed.
In attendance at the meeting were some traditional rulers and the Imo State Commissioner of Police.
