Embattled Nigerian Chief Justice, Walter Onnoghen has resigned.
Onnoghen reportedly resigned with immediate effect.
His resignation may be connected to the report of the Nigerian Judicial Council (NJC) that found Onnoghen culpable in certain areas as public officer.
The NJC advised President Muhammadu Buhari to confirm the appointment of the acting CJN, Mohammed Tanko while advising Onnoghen to resign.
Onnoghen is still facing trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal over non declaration of assets.
