Lawmaker representing Lagelu/Akinyele federal constituency of Oyo State, Olatoye Temitope, popularly called Sugar, who was shot and rushed to the University Teaching Hospital is dead.
He was shot dead by suspected political thugs engaged in violent clashes in parts of Ibadan, the state capital.
Sugar, who was also the Oyo Central senatorial district candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) in the National Assembly election was attacked on his way from his village where he had gone to vote.
He was reportedly hit in the eye and was rushed to the University College Hospital, Ibadan, where he died.
Following report of his death, violence broke out in his area around 6pm with sporadic gunshots pervading the entire area renting the air.
The police was said to be having a hectic time controlling the rioters.
