● Amuzi-Ihenweorie Ward members excited
A key member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ahiazu Mbaise local government area of Imo State, Chief Johnny Chukwu has dumped the Party for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Chukwu, a retired Permanent Secretary of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) formally joined the APC at his Amuzi-Ihenweorie Ward at the weekend together with his wife and younger brother, Chief Felix Chukwu.
Felix, another popular member of the PDP in Ahiazu was a former Chairman of the Board of the Federal Road Safety Commission.
While they were being warmly received into the APC by the leaders of Amuzi-Ihenweorie Ward, Chief Chukwu said he was joining the Party in support of Governor Hope Uzodimma’s government which he said has impacted the lives of the people of his area.
He singled out the Owerri-Mbaise-Umuahia road as a major project which every Mbaise person owes gratitude to the Governor.
Chukwu who said Governor Uzodimma needed to be supported to continue with the good job he is doing in Imo State, noted that his firm believe in the realisation of the Charter of Equity is another laudable effort the Governor has made to position Imo State for peaceful political contest going forward.
Chukwu therefore urged the Mbaise Nation in general and the Ahiazu people in particular to come out en mass and cast their votes for Governor Uzodimma on November 11, 2023.
He promised to do whatever is humanly possible to ensure that the Governor is victorious in Ahiazu and reelected for another tenure.
Meanwhile, the leadership and members of the Amuzi-Ihenweorie Ward have expressed delight over the entry of the Chukwus into the APC.
In a statement by the Ward Chairman, Ifeanyi Nnodim, he said their entry into the Party will be a boost to the efforts of the leaders in the Ward to make it the envy of other Wards in Imo State.
