The People’s Democratic Party and Pan Igbo sociocultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo have flayed the arrest of senator Enyinnaya Abaribe by operatives of the Department of State Services.

The DSS arrested Abaribe on Friday and whisked him away to an unknwon destination.

The PDP said his arrest was in line with the All Progressive Congress plan to emasculate the opposition in the National Assembly.

The party regretted that the government has not given reasons for Abaribe’s arrest and confinement incommunicado.

It said Nigerians were not ignorant of the plan of the APC government to frame up members of the National Assembly in the opposition and others in the ruling party mot favourably disposed to most of its policies.

The PDP agreed with Ohanaeze that the country is decsending into a fascist state where freedom of speech cannot be guaranteed.

John Nnia Nwodo, Ohanaeze President said the government has remained antagonistic to the South East leaders and wondered why Abaribe should be so whisked away at a time government has not given account of the whereabouts of leader of Independent People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.
