PDP wants Kano supplementary poll cancelled

Rabiu Suleiman-Bichi, acting chairman of the People’s Democratic Party in Kano has advised the Independent National Electoral Commission to cancel the ongonig supplementary election in Kano over unprecedented irregularities.

The INEC called for supplementary poll in seven states in Nigeria, including Kano where the March 9 governorship election was marred by irregularities.

The PDP candidate was leading the APC candidate and incumbent Governor Abdullahi Ganduje in the rescheduled election.

On Saturday March 23 rje PDP alleged that thugs allegedly imported from neighbouring states to Kano took over the whole 28 local governments where elections held, obstructing voting process, beating and chasing out voters, snatching and destroying ballot boxes and papers amd making the whole process a child’s play.

The thugs were said to have come with voter cards not belonging to them and used same to vote after infilterating the polling booths.

Tje PDP Kano said it had written to the State Electoral Commissioner in Kano on their observation and calling for tje total cancellation of the exercise.

In some places, electoral materials were set ablaze despite the presence of security operatives.
