Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) holding former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) under the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan are not sure when he would be released from their custody.
He has been in the watch list of the EFCC but has remained evasive, according to EFCC source.
Anyim was arrested and taken to EFCC custody in Abuja on Thursday and is likely going to stay there this weekend to enable the operatives tidy up their on going investigation into allegations against the former Senate President.
A competent EFCC source told Armadanews.com on Friday that contrary to speculations that Anyim was arrested over the controversial Centenary Project in Abuja, his arrest has nothing to do with that.
According to our source, Anyim “has been evading arrest on matters outside the Centenary Project until we got the opportunity to arrest him now. We are still investigating and I do not know when we shall conclude. Bail for now may not be likely.”
