Police Begin Manhunt for Kidnappers of Retired Air Vice Marshal in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has launched an intense manhunt for the daredevil gunmen who kidnapped a retired Air Vice Marshal Sikiru Smith in the Ajah area of the state.

The retired military officer, a cousin to a former Inspector-General of Police and Chairman of the Police Service Commission, Mr. Musiliu Smith was said to have been abducted from where he was supervising work in the Ajah area on Monday.

It was gathered that the masked gunmen shot sporadically before bundling him into a standby boat and sped off.

A trained military engineer, Smith attained the position of Chief of Logistics, Nigerian Air Force Headquarters, Abuja. He was also Chief of Defence Communications, Defence Headquarters, Abuja before his retirement.

Meanwhile, the Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the kidnap of the retired military officer and vowed to apprehend those behind the criminal act.

 Adekunle Ajisebutu  the Police Public Relations Officer, said that the command was aware of the incident and was working to rescue the victim unhurt.

ArmadaNews online gathered that the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba has directed the police in Lagos to  rescue the victim unhurt and apprehend the perpetrators.
