The Oyo State Police Command has rearrested Sunday Shodipe, a suspected serial killer, who escaped from police custody about a week ago.
The 19 year – old boy believed to be the brain behind several ritual-related killings in Oyo state and environs was said to have been arrested in Akinyele area of Ibadan, Oyo State.
- The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Olugbenga Fadeyi, who confirmed his rearrest, did not give details, insisting that the details would be made available later.
Shodipe was paraded along with two others by the Oyo State Police Command on July 17, 2020.
In the course of investigation, he had confessed to killing all the five victims in Akinyele local council, Moniya, Ibadan, Oyo State.
Last Sunday, the Oyo State Police Command released a statement, notifying the general public that the suspect unlawfully escaped from the police custody.
Consequently, the Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu issued marching order to the police in Oyo state to rearrest the suspect.
A source said the police commissioner will address the media on the development this week.
