The Inspector-General of Police Usman Alkali Baba, Monday announced the immediate suspension of permit for tinted vehicle windscreens and spy number plates in Nigeria.
The IGP gave the directives at a meeting with senior police officers – commissioners, AIGs and DIGs.
Baba explained the decision was part of efforts put in place to curb he worsening security challenges in parts of the country.
The police chief reaffirmed that roadblocks remain prohibited and warned that heads of commands must enforce it and key into the road patrol strategy as an alternative to roadblocks.
He said over 600 suspects including those behind an attack on Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State in March this year, have been arrested.
