Police are on the trail of the killers of a senior aide to Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State believed to be a victim of political assassination.
He was Ortom’ s principal senior assistant on Knowledge Economy and Investment.
The deceased, Tavershima Adyorough was killed by unknown assassins who went to his house to perpetrate the dastard act in the presence of his wife and children.
The incident has devastated the government and close aides to Ortom most of who say he was a utility staff of the state.
Ortom has urged the police to fish out the suspects, promising to give them all the support they needed to crack the case.
Consequently, Benue State Police Commissioner Bashir Makama has pledged his commitment to the incident and that of him officers and men to get to the root of the matter.
Makama, Armadanews.com learnt is not only leading the investigation but has set up a team of detectives charged with arresting the suspects.
Makama said the investigation is intelligence based and should be followed as such because the detectives would want to know the motives behind the act since it was not robbery related.
Some of the family members, staff and close relations of the deceased who made calls with him before the killing have been slated for interrogation from Monday.
This latest killing is the fourth since the coming to power of Ortom.
